NORTH SEA JAZZ
Feel the rhythm
I made an art poster for North Sea Jazz where I pressed a classic jazz song in paper. (Dave Brubeck - Take five ) When you touch it with your nails on a certain tempo you can actually feel /hear the music where you can guess what the line up would be.
How it’s made
I translated the melody of the instruments in a rhythm and calculated a speed to hear the song at the right tempo. I designed that in stripes and lazererd that out and pressed that on special paper by hand. The black one is coated by hand with indian ink.
The poster started to be a collectors item for real jazz fans so I decided to sell a few of my works on my site. Because It’s such an interesting concept I want to make it to a higher level and want to make a whole wall in a tunnel where you can walk by with your hand on the wall and really hear & feel the whole song.

Focus Correction - Remedy For a future disease
First there was a muisarm, after that the sms-duim came up and then the gameboy-rug and the tablet nek arrived because we’re not sitting right and kids can get a crooked spine of that. These are all ‘diseases’ made by ourselves. There are tons of articles about and all quoted by the same doctor. Let’s say he sort of invented the disease. I was wondering which disease would be next and therefore I already branded a future disease to put in the ‘market’ but also have a remedy for it which I’ll put online later.
Branding the disease
So after some research I came up with a new disease which is called Focusloos. We are so stocked to our screens. When text is to small we just zoom in. During the time your eyes will get lazy and end up focussing too slow (in real life) because we don’t need to focus on our screens.
Branding the remedy
After branding the disease and scaring people about their lazy eyes I come up with a remedy. Back in the days there was already a remedy for lazy eyes. You remember the plaster on the eye? Yeah, nobody’s going to do that anymore but the concept is pretty clear. Because of the plaster on your good eye it trains your bad eye to focus better. We are not watching our screens less, so why not turn that plaster into technology?
It’s proven that if you train 15 minutes every day your eyes will get better. Thats what we're going to do. It’s simple. There is a program which fits all your devices. Laptop,smartphone and tablet. When first using the program you’ll get an eye-test on your screen so we can measure which eye is the baddest and which strength you need. After that you don’t have to do anything. It has a timer and detect which device you’re on. When it’s time to train 50% of the left or right screen ( depends on your eye test ) will get blurry. Still readable but harder to do. Works the same as the plaster but it’s only for 15 minutes, you can still do your job and it doesn’t look ugly :)
Focus Correction is not a real program yet but I might work someday with a brand to make it real.
I already got goosebumps of the word genital mutulation. I'ts not a nice subject at all. You might know Warris Dirie who wrote the book Desert flower where she tells the story about her circumsision. Every time I hear that story or see the movie I feel terrible. I got in touch with an organisation who fights forced circumsission and the women told me a lot of women are actually very proud of it. That made me think, because 98% of the women in Somalia is circumcised, in how far is it actually a problem? I got in touch via that organisation with a women who's proud on their circumsission and had a wonderfull interview with her. It's in Dutch but one of the things she says is " It's like having a bayby, you don't feel the pain cause you're so happy!" She told me the village where she comes from is not that ols as we think. They have a pharamacy too and cut with sterile matterials. It's their culture and it's a huge party when a women gets circumsised. she actuall feels more women when she doesn't have a clitoris. I photographed a model for my article where she stands in an African tribal pose and made the article in style of Harpers bazaar. It was so real you couldn't see any difference except for he subject ofcourse. I just wanted to show that there ara tons of women who are very proud and feel more women than ever before. Just to wake up people to not shave everything on one side.
I putted the article in a lot of Harpers Bazaar magazine's in stores. secretly ofcourse but I never heard from it again. I think people actually believed it. You can read the article online too.

Refugees are not refugees anymore when they are in our countrie.
They don't have to flee anymore. Why are we still calling them a refugee?
When we talked to some former refugees I got scared by my own thought, 'she doesn't seem to look like my image of a refugee.' Somehow I got framed by the media and press.
These people realy want to start over again in our country but if we keep calling them refugees they'll never feel like normal people. And we will never see them as normal people.
That's why we decided to reframe the media and press back. We found a word in our dictionary ( it already exists! ) which explains the whole thing!
Medelander. ( literally translated: Co-lander )
Meaning: Iemand die afkomstig is uit het buitenland en samen met de autochtone bevolking woont. ( Someone who's origin is from abroad but lives with the autochtonous population. )
So you're not a Nederlander yet because you've not a Dutch passport, but you're also not a refugee anymore. The middle word is Medelander.
How are we reframing the media back?
I made an extension you could download in your browser. Jus like adblocker. The difference is it doesn't block but is changes. All the words you'll type or see in your timeline like: Vluchteling, Gelukszoeker, Illegalen, Asielzoeker etc. ( All the bad refugee names ) Will be changed in to medelander. It realy works. The internet became a lot sweeter and even tweets from Geert Wilders sounds nice!

We showed also some before and afters and it got picked up by a lot of blogs and media. This is a project that realy helps 'Medelanders" In Holland to get their life on the going again.
We are still going for some nice pr because it's still a relevant subject.

Strategy & Concept
Voedselbank (Foodbank) in Holland is a massive company which serves 100.000 family's packages every week. Sadly enough they're getting bigger and bigger and therefore Voedselbank Holland is looking for volunteers, money, storage & logistic help. They asked us to come up with an idea which helps them to get volunteers but also raise more money and show Holland how they are also trying to beat the food waste.
Goal: From Embarrassment to Pride
A lot of people are embarrassed of being member at the Foodbank. We did research where that comes from and found out 'we' are one of the couses. We feel bad for the people who need help and that actually makes it worse. So we have to change the image from embarrassing to pride.
Nobody want to waste food. Still we’re throwing 2,5 million tons of good food away. More then 30% Brands like Hak and Albertheijn are fighting against that food waste by donating their ‘left overs’ to food bank Holland. Only nobody knows that! They donate a lot but you’ll never see anything on their website. Why aren’t they sharing that?
BRANDS CAN GET A FREE LOAN AT THE FOODBANK
Now a days a brand like to have emotional value on their products. And Foodbank Holland can give that to them! They are already donating and doing great stuff, and The Foodbank can give them that extra value, for free. Brands can show of as Valuable food-savers and Foodbank gets exposure. Win-win.
When you’re donating you will have acces to a special package where you can show how you help in form of an orange stripe. They can put the stripe on every product/service they have to show how good they are. It’s 30% of a packaging because they’re now responsible for saving 30% food in Holland because they’re part of Foodbank.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines asked us to come up with a concept showing they are engaging with their customers.
When you're at the airport, there are always people who carry too much weight in their suitcase. And of course you don't want to pay for those extra kilograms. But there are also people who carry an half empty bag with them and are on the same flight. We introduced Bagage buddies. With this concept, you can choose if you want to donate these extra kilograms to someone who packed too much. When there’s someone with too much weight in their baggage and he or she (mostly she) accepts the donation, the suitcases will be put on the scale together.
The people in question won’t find out about eachother until they arrive at their destination and pick up their luggage. There, their suitcases are bonded together with a ribbon and there they will meet each other. You can already imagine how that will work in a sweet little content video for KLM. Bagage buddies for KLM.

We created a Robijn shoe shine brush which makes your white sneakers shining again.
It's really bad for your sneakers to throw them in the washing machine
Robijn wants to give a solution so people can still wash their shoes with Robijn stralend wit detergent. Therefor we created a handy brush where you can add some detergent and clean it by hand.
Does it work?
We tried to clean our dirty white shoes and made a video to see it yourself. It really works and the shoe's smell also very nice.
A mobile shoeshine chair will be placed in different cities in Holland. You can follow the chair online and found out when he'll be in your town. Some nice bearded hipsters will in stead of the leather shoes, shoeshine your white sneakers with the robijn sneaker brush. People can post before and after photo's and will walk out of the chair on the #whitewalkoffame. Every photo will be tagged with that hashtag
Robijn will deliver bloggers a fancy shoeshine kit where they can show the brush in their posts/video's and test it themselves.
The brush will be placed on the detergent's shell so you'll have to buy Robijn stralend wit too. When in the supermarket all the soap and detergent stands at the end close to the cash decks. Robijn will place some tile stickers over there to measure the whiteness of your own sneakers. you only have to look up to the right where the detergent stands in the shelf.
